Through many tough, fierce, and extensive battles with my own body the Alberta Children's Hospital was the one place I could always rely on and feel at ease once in their care.

The beginning of my battles started at the age of 1.5 years old, when establishing bronchitis occurred in my lungs which lead me to hospitalization.

My body continued to fight against itself and I ended up admitted to the Alberta Children's Hospital when I was 5 years old for pneumonia. I found out two crucial things during this hospitalization that were and still are crucial to my quality of life like I had severe allergies to multiple things and I was diagnosed with severe asthma. The team that were taking care of me during that stay told me and my mom that had been taken into care by the specialty asthma clinic in the Alberta Children's Hospital because of my history and how severe my asthma was. From then on I had several admissions to the Alberta Children's Hospital and to other hospitals but I was also transported/transferred via medical plane or ambulance from the other hospitals to receive treatment at the Alberta Children's Hospital. 

My most recent admission was just this September, 2025 at the ACH for a week. I have been in the asthma clinic at the Alberta Children's Hospital care since I was 5 years old and they've become nothing less than family. Ive recently in the past few years been seen by various of other specialty clinics as my health has never been completely steady and I have new symptoms occurring. 

Ive had many memorable moments at the Alberta Children's Hospital, emotions shared with my doctors and nurses, Some memories I'm not so fond of but it's apart of my journey, and most importantly the Alberta Children's Hospital is where I've planted my feet and grew up into who I am currently. I find myself noticing that this year has been a little tough to go to appointments at the ACH because it's my last full year before moving on into the adult world. Through all the pain, trauma, and tears shed I have found so much beyond a "hospital" at the Alberta Children's Hospital its the place that has seen my most vulnerable side, the place that has been there through it all, and its my second home. Ive gained so much from everyone and everything that's happened to me at such a young age to now. The Alberta Children's Hospital holds my whole childhood and life in it. I have so many emotions for this year, but it's not that time yet. That is why I want to spread joy to the kids currently going through similar situations that I did, through Teige's Journey and the comfort of Hippo.
